Please take time to spay/neuter your pets and any feral kitties you are feeding. Many think that it is fine to let their cat have just one litter because they can just give the kittens away. For every free kitten you give away, that is one kitten that does not make it out of a shelter alive. Teach children responsibility instead of using your cat as a tool to teach the “miracle of life.” Houston euthanizes over 200 animals A DAY! That is over 80,000 a year! Did you know that you are increasing your cat’s chances of getting cancer if you wait for her to go into her first cycle of heat? Did you know your cat can become pregnant at 6 months of age? If you are having any of the following problems, please contact Spay/Houston for help. · You cannot find affordable spay/neuter service. · Your vet will not spay/neuter your pet prior to 4 months of age. · Your vet claims that they cannot spay/neuter a pet without every shot being given first. Due to the cat overpopulation problem in Houston, and the fact that we are a no-kill shelter and sanctuary, we are not currently accepting any new cats into our program. We are very sorry for this. We are just currently overwhelmed! |
